Department of Sociology

About Us

                        The Department of Sociology was established in 1993. The department has Three faculties (C.H.B.). Sociology department runs Bachelor’s Course. It means sociology subject is available as an optional subject for the B.A. students for their three years bachelor degree course.

                        The Department organizes many activities for the development of students. For example guest lectures, workshops, study tours, field visits and various competition for students. The Bridge course conducted by the department for first year students is one of the unique features of the department through which students are given basic orientation of the subject. Main feature of this department is student oriented approach which is achieved through adopting student centric teaching-learning practices. Samajshastra Abhyas Mandal, is another feature of the department. Through student Association, department runs various student oriented activities and programmes.

                        In the classrooms our focus is on student’s academic progress as well as their personality development with various social skills. Keeping in mind this goal the department motivates students to give seminars in classroom. Developing analytical ability and criticality with employability is the one of the objective of the department. So, along with various academic skills we believe in giving students various other soft skills to increase their employability.

                       To sum up it can be said that this department is among the most active, student centric and vibrant departments with its academic growth and its reach beyond scholarly achievements.
